Call 112 If

  • a person is unconscious, unable to breathe or bleeding heavily;
  • an assault, threat, domestic violence or robbery is taking place;
  • there is a fire, smell of gas, smoke, accident or explosion risk;
  • a serious road accident has occurred;

Provide the Following Information Calmly

  • the exact address or a recognisable landmark;
  • what happened and when;
  • how many people are injured and their condition;
  • whether other people remain in danger;
  • your name and telephone number.
Do not end the call first. The operator may ask questions and give instructions while help is on the way.

What to Do in the Event of a Threat, Assault or Domestic Violence

If You Are in Immediate Danger

Move to a safe place if possible. Call 112 or 997. Give the address, floor, entry code, information about the person making the threat and whether there is a weapon.

If You Witness an Incident

Do not intervene if it would put you in danger. Remember the location, description, direction of travel and vehicle registration number, and wait for police.

If the Threat Is Repeated

Keep messages, photographs, call recordings and witness details. Contact police and your local crisis intervention centre.
